Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances (Colossians 2:20).

In Colossians 2:20, the apostle Paul addresses believers, urging them to reflect deeply on their spiritual journey. He advises against being bound by human traditions or worldly principles that lack eternal value. This verse highlights a fundamental aspect of Christian faith: freedom through Christ.

Paul’s message resonates with timeless truth. He challenges us to live in the freedom that comes from Christ’s sacrifice, rather than being enslaved to legalistic rules or human doctrines. True spirituality is found in Christ alone (Colossians 2:8-10). Our identity and completeness are rooted in Him, not in adherence to external regulations.

This is an invitation to believers to evaluate their motives and actions. Are we living in accordance with Christ’s teachings, or are we entangled in societal norms that contradict God’s Word? The freedom Paul speaks of isn’t license to indulge in sin but liberation from the bondage of legalism and the world’s expectations.

Colossians 2:20 serves as a reminder to prioritize our relationship with Christ above all else. It encourages us to seek spiritual growth through prayer, study of the Word, and fellowship with other believers. By centering our lives on Christ, we can navigate the complexities of the world while remaining steadfast in our faith.

Ultimately, Colossians 2:20 beckons us to live authentically as followers of Christ, liberated from the constraints of human doctrines and empowered to live in the fullness of God’s grace and truth. Praise the Lord
